This project uses imagery to explore the rapid decline in local communities. Using visual language I hope to invoke the viewers imagination, prompting personal memories and messages. This project bears witness to the community spirit that has almost vanished in modern Britain. People no longer speak to their neighbours, they often don’t even know who they are. As a result of this lack in community spirit, local businesses suffer as shoppers seek out large supermarkets instead of supporting local businesses and local schools suffer due to the lack of volunteers or parent helpers. Margaret Thatcher once said ‘There’s no such thing as society” and it seems she was right after all.
